AstroPay Review by Ewallet Specialist

AstroPay is one of the most widely accepted e-money services in the world. They offer seamless integration to countless online merchants, easy access to their funds for brick-and-mortar stores, and are beloved by gambling, forex and crypto enthusiasts alike.

And perhaps best of all – AstroPay has been around for nearly fifteen years. With millions of annual users who love AstroPay’s modern take on their service, it makes sense that you’d want to learn a bit more.

As AstroPay’s first European partner, EwalletUpgrades is happy to break down precisely what makes AstroPay so dang good.

What is AstroPay?

Before we can even think about touching the review itself, there are a few essential basics to cover. So… what is AstroPay?

AstroPay is an e-money service founded in 2009 that allows users to send and receive money internationally, pay physical and online merchants, game, invest in forex and crypto, and more.

AstroPay is a UK-based company with millions of annual users across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. As a British company, AstroPay is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which essentially boils down to one thing – AstroPay takes its work quite seriously.

Which (if we’re being honest) is a good thing; you want the people handling your money to care as much as you do about its safety.

Is AstroPay safe?

The next question that should pop into your mind is whether or not AstroPay is safe to use.

The answer, luckily, is yes. Not only is AstroPay incredibly safe to use for most basic transactions, but they actually add additional layers of security to your everyday transactions.

The simple fact of the matter is that AstroPay works, in its simplest form, as a card (both virtual and physical) and an e-wallet. We’ll get into a more detailed description of their safety further into this review, but it’s worth noting that you don’t even need to attach a bank account or credit card to use AstroPay.

While that alone is a draw for some, it means that you can have easily separated funds for a specific purpose. Whether it’s online gaming, forex, buying and selling crypto, sending money between friends (P2P), or merchant transactions in your favourite stores, AstroPay keeps your hobbies and investment strategies secure.

They also encrypt your information with the most modern security features possible, adding additional possibilities for biometric logins and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

Plus, don’t forget – the FCA regulates them. You really don’t want to get on their wrong side, and neither does AstroPay.

Is AstroPay legit?

AstroPay is absolutely legitimate. As mentioned above, AstroPay is regulated by one of Europe’s most widely respected (and arguably feared) financial regulatory bodies.

And if you’ve been around EwalletUpgrades for any time, you know one thing – we vet every single partner of ours carefully. You can dig through our reviews and guides for other services on our blog, but the simple truth is as follows:

If we didn’t believe in AstroPay, we wouldn’t have become their first European partner.

AstroPay Review:

And now, it’s time for the review! There are quite a few critical bits to address: fees, security, AstroPay’s VIP and Loyalty programmes, and more. We’ll wrap this little review in a short pros & cons list, and then we can be done for the day. Deal?

AstroPay Fees & Limits

First up are AstroPay’s fees and limits.

We’re going to hit the big highlights of AstroPay’s fees and limits rather than slogging through every single one for each account. If you want the complete list, you can visit our guide here (fees) and here (limits); if not, keep reading for the most crucial bits.

Here are AstroPay’s fees at a glance:

  • The longer you use AstroPay, the more you’ll be rewarded.
  • Registering for an account isn’t all – verification allows you to unlock AstroPay’s true potential. You can still use your account if you don’t verify, but it will be heavily restricted.
  • Sending or receiving money from friends on AstroPay (P2P) is always free.
  • Most authorised merchant transactions with AstroPay are fee-free.
  • Bank withdrawals, registration, account maintenance, and deposits are all fee-free.
  • Cryptocurrency purchases on AstroPay are entirely fee-free.

If you’d like to learn more, you can visit the articles above – let’s take a peek at AstroPay’s account limits.

And AstroPay’s account limits at a glance:

  • Daily limits for most transactions are very high, ranging between $30,000 and $500,000 daily.
  • Withdrawals have a $1 minimum and allow up to $500,000 per day.
  • Users can make up to 5 crypto transactions daily, with a maximum of $500,000 total transaction value and an annual $1,000,000 transactional limit.
  • Crypto conversion is easy through AstroPay, with a limit of ten transactions per day at no more than $5,000 per transaction.
  • Cash deposits are the most limited of transactions, with a maximum of only $10,000 per transaction.

AstroPay Security

AstroPay takes its security incredibly seriously. They have state-of-the-art encryption on all personal and financial data and allow users to separate their bank accounts and cards from AstroPay (if desired). Additionally, AstroPay offers a wonderfully designed app that allows for both 2FA and biometric locking, if desired.

AstroPay is excellent for several reasons, certainly not the least of which is its security.

AstroPay VIP & Loyalty

Once again (I know, shocker!), we’ve already covered this – you can find the full AstroPay VIP & Loyalty programme guide here.

If you don’t want to do that, here are the basics:

AstroPay has had a Loyalty programme for years. It offers users Astro coins as a reward for using the platform, which can be exchanged for their preferred currency.

*Users can progress through five tiers to gain various perks:

  1. Standard
  2. Silver
  3. Platinum
  4. Black

AstroPay Loyalty users are rewarded with unique offers on their account’s creation anniversary, gifts of up to $500, and priority support.

*Progression through tiers requires a combination of time spent on the platform and average bimonthly spending of an increasing amount.
