What Payment Methods Are Accepted By Skrill

Skrill is a fantastic way to send and receive money online and in person. They offer a broad range of payment options, from bank transfers and debit/credit cards to mobile money and services like Google/Apple/Samsung Pay. But if you’re a brand new Skriller, it’s likely that you’re still getting the specifics figured out.

Because we’ve been there too, those of us at EwalletUpgrades thought it was high time we created a “Skrill Payments 101” article to answer all of the questions we had back in the day.

Skrill Payments 101

Luckily for you, these questions are super simple, so this’ll be over before you know it. Let’s get going!

Does Skrill Accept Mastercard?

Yes – Skrill accepts Mastercard as a deposit method.

Be aware that there are some limits to what can be done with funds when loading your Skrill account with a Mastercard. The most commonly-seen limit is that money deposited with a Mastercard cannot be used to buy cryptocurrency or (in some areas) gamble.

Skrill also offers a prepaid Mastercard (or Visa card, depending on where you live), which can be used in any location (physical or online) that bears the Mastercard Acceptance Mark.

Does Skrill Accept Prepaid Cards?

Skrill accepts prepaid Mastercard and Visa cards. They also offer their own prepaid card, which can be used to add or withdraw funds from your Skrill wallet. The Skrill prepaid Visa or Mastercard can be used anywhere that accepts Visa or Mastercard.

Why is Skrill Not Accepting Mastercard?

Depending on where you live, Skrill doesn’t accept Mastercard for payments. Additional causes for Skrill not accepting a Mastercard include:

  • Incorrect information listed (card number, cardholder name, etc.)
  • Insufficient funds available for transfer

Users in the United States* will be unable to use Mastercard to fund their Skrill wallets due to undisclosed business decisions from both Mastercard and Skrill.

*(Among several other countries, including Kenya and the United Arab Emirates.)

Does Skrill Accept Credit Cards?

Yes, Skrill takes most commonly-accepted forms of payment, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, and more. For more details, go to the “Which Cards Are Accepted by Skrill?” section above.

Can I Add Money to Skrill With Paysafecard?

You can add money to Skrill with Paysafecard just as you would add money to your Skrill wallet from any other source. Simply click the “Deposit” button along the leftmost sidebar, determine how much you’d like to transfer, and select “Next.”

You’ll then be redirected to Paysafecard’s third-party processing and verification. Upon success, the funds will be available to you near-instantaneously.

Does Skrill Accept American Express?

Yes, Skrill accepts American Express and over 100 other commonly-accepted forms of payment in countries across the world.

Does Skrill Accept Mobile Money?

Those who use mobile money in a host of countries will be pleased to know that Skrill accepts many mobile money forms, such as MTN in Africa and the Middle East.

Which Cards Are Accepted by Skrill?

Skrill accepts bank cards from all major card carriers. Among the most common bank cards accepted by Skrill are Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Maestro (varying by location).

For more information, navigate to the section above titled “Which Cards Are Accepted by Skrill?”

Skrill accepts over 100 forms of payment globally. The most common cards used on Skrill are:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard*
    • *Users in some areas will find they’re unable to use funds from Mastercard to purchase cryptocurrency or gamble.
  • American Express*
    • *Use is limited by your location and the specific product or service you’re attempting to purchase.

You can also use a bank transfer (instant or one-time, with the former being added to your Skrill wallet), Paysafecard or Paysafecash, and numerous other options.

  • Maestro

Can You Fund Skrill With PayPal?

You cannot fund Skrill with PayPal. Not only are they direct competitors, but each company uses entirely different processing methods, rendering the process both highly complicated and expensive for both companies.

You can circumvent this by transferring funds from PayPal to your bank account and then re-transferring those funds from the bank account to your Skrill wallet.

(But let’s be honest – that’s a lot of work. If you have the bank account already, it’s faster and easier to use than the roundabout method we just listed.)

You can link a debit card from most major card carriers to your Skrill wallet. The most commonly-accepted card carriers are Visa, American Express, Mastercard, and Maestro.

You can find the complete list in the section above titled “Which Cards Are Accepted by Skrill?”

All in all, making payments with Skrill has never been easier. They offer a larger variety than many of their competitors for sending and receiving money in a number of global currencies and do so with lightning-quick efficiency. While there are some exceptions (PayPal, for instance), they’re generally few and far between – which is great for those with money on a number of platforms and services.
